Periodontics is the specialty, which treats periodontal issues. This problem progressively affects the support tissues of the teeth, from the gums to the bone. It is caused by microorganisms, which normally live in our mouth cavity (plaque and tartar), causing an inflammation of the gums and slow and progressive destruction of the bone that supports our teeth.
